Local Business Recognized for Holiday Work

It's already a winter wonderland for one business in Glasgow.

Holiday Lights and Magic Inc held a ribbon cutting with the Glasgow Barren County Chamber of Commerce today to recognize them in the local economy.

This business makes holiday decorations for a lot of places, and the way they've been able to do it is the Internet.

"I tell you a lot of people find us on google. We'll ask everyone who calls, how did you find us?" said Owner Victoria Sutherland.

Sutherland has made decorations for the Greenbrier resort, naval bases, cities and more.

"It's amazing when we do a light show somewhere, just to look at the peoples faces, to look at the childrens' faces. Christmas is just fun. It always has been, and always will be. It's a family thing," said Sutherland.

But the Christmas season isn't the only thing they do, if you want decorations for a holiday, they'll do it.

"We make custom displays. It's a big specialty of ours. If somebody has an idea of something they want for any holiday, they can give us a drawing or will do our own drawing, and we just create whatever we want," said Sutherland.

Sutherland started the business in 1994 in her garage, and now she's expanded her business to seven locations across the U.S. and even does international business, although she makes her product here, something the chamber of commerce appreciates.

"Any business which provides employment is excellent. A business of this sort which is pretty much recession proof is really, really neat," said Ernie Myers, Glasgow Barren County Chamber of Commerce.

It's a neat collection, you just might see this holiday season.

Sutherland said the next big project she's going to be involved in is in Las Vegas, making Christmas decorations for a big hotel out there.
