BOWLING GREEN, Ky (WBKO) -- “I'm self employed, so when I first got the letter for Obamacare and it tripled the rate, I kind of freaked out. I was probably a little bit hard on him, maybe, harder than i needed to be," said Randy Huff, Business Owner.
Randy Huff later narrowed down his options and chose to purchase healthcare. This prevented him from receiving a penalty.
"I think it's what was best for me and my family,” said Randy Huff, Business Owner.
But, not everyone has chosen to sign up.
"If you don't enroll in a policy by the deadline, you will receive a penalty when you file your 2014 tax return," said Jill Schardein, Houchens Insurance Group Sales Representative.
This will affect anyone who hasn't initiated an application by 11 o'clock Central Time tonight.
"Then, you will not be able to enroll again until open enrollment starts back up, January 2015. If you've already initiated an application but not completed it, you will have until April 15 to complete that application," said Jill Schardein, Houchens Insurance Group Sales Representative.
After reviewing the website today, customers ran into some issues. The website was running slow because of the high traffic on the page. However, the website is not your only option.
"You can contact your local sales agent, myself or go on the KYNECT website and apply,” said Jill Schardein, Houchens Insurance Group Sales Representative.
According to the Affordable Healthcare website, since October 1, 2013, nearly six million Americans have signed up for coverage.
