Ready, set, go!

More than 1,000 runners embraced the early morning hours and the cold temperatures to run or walk for a cause.

The 17th annual Total Fitness Connection's run and walk in Bowling Green included a half marathon, a 5k, and a fun walk.

All the proceeds benefit the Family Enrichment Center, a non-profit organization that aims to prevent child abuse.

The center says they want to imagine a world where every child can be safe.

"We have a crisis childcare nursery. We have parenting classes, support groups, and supervised visitation. We generate most of our funding through grants and fundraisers like this. We couldn't exist without fundraisers like this," says Nickie Jones, Executive Director of the Family Enrichment Center.

The Center is on track to raise nearly $60,000 from the event today.
