BURLINGTON, Ky. (AP) -- A judge has denied a motion to delay the trial of a former Warren County, Ohio, sheriff's deputy who is accused of killing his parents in northern Kentucky.
The decision comes after years of delays in the case of Michael Moore, who is charged with murder in the 2009 slayings of Warren and Madge Moore. The couple lived in Union, Ky.
Defense attorney Joanne Lynch had asked for another delay in the proceedings saying she had recently uncovered new information and wanted time to conduct DNA testing of clothing in the case.
Prosecutors had opposed the motion.
The trial is set to begin Monday with jury selection and is expected to last up to five weeks.
