BENTON, Ky. -- The trial a Calvert City man charged with murder in a fatal shooting in his driveway is set to begin in Marshall Circuit Court.
Tuesday's proceedings come after attorneys for 55-year-old Billy Don Greer and prosecutors failed to reach a plea agreement after several months of negotiations.
Commonwealth Attorney Mark Blankenship says a could not be reached because the state refused to pull the murder charge off the table.
Greer is charged with shooting and killing 32-year-old Darryl Domingue after a reported altercation outside Greer's home Jan. 4.
Dominigue died after he was shot twice, once in the leg and once in the torso, with a 12 gauge shotgun.
