MUHLENBERG COUNTY, Ky. (WBKO) -- Kentucky State Police says it is investigating a two-vehicle, injury collision involving a trooper that occurred at the intersection of KY 189 and Greene Drive on Wednesday at 8:00 a.m.
KSP says the preliminary investigation revealed that Tpr. Jerry Knight, 41 of Greenville, was on patrol operating a 2011 Ford Crown Victoria northbound on KY 189. Daniel Taylor, 61 of Central City, was operating a 2007 Ford Taurus SE southbound on KY 189. Troopers say Taylor was attempting to make a left turn from KY 189 onto Greene Drive.
KSP says Taylor disregarded the stoplight and turned left into the path of Tpr. Knight. The two vehicles collided in the intersection. Tpr. Knight’s cruiser came to rest in the roadway. Taylor’s vehicle came to rest off the northbound side of the roadway.
Taylor was transported via ambulance to the Muhlenberg Community Hospital for treatment. Tpr. Knight was transported to the Muhlenberg Community Hospital by Tpr. Craig Engler where he was treated and released. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts. There were no passengers in either vehicle.
KSP says Taylor was cited to court for disregarding a traffic control device and failure to yield right of way.
