A fatal accident leaves Exit 20 on Interstate-65 closed for several hours Wednesday morning.
One eye-witness saw everything happen.
"I was coming down the interstate. I was about to get off at exit 20-A, and I saw two trucks beside each other."
Bobby Edmonds was driving behind the two semi-trucks when one of them slipped off the road.
"One truck had sped past the other truck, the truck that was in the accident, he sped past the Fed-Ex truck to try and switch lanes and as soon as he switched lanes he went down into this dip here and he hit that median and catapulted right into the bridge," Edmonds says.
"For some unknown reason at this time, it appears the driver has struck the bridge here on the overpass to the William Natcher," Kentucky State Police Public Affairs Officer, Trooper Jonathan Biven says.
When the tractor trailer hit the bridge, fuel spilled all over the road.
"There was nothing but smoke and liquid. I tried to jump out of my car to try and see what was going on, but it was really bad," Edmonds says.
Several units were on scene to help clean-up the wreckage.
"We have got personnel from Kentucky State Police, Kentucky State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement, as well as engineers with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet just to check on and make sure the bridge is gonna be structurally sound," Trooper Biven says.
The Kentucky Transportation Dept. has confirmed there is no structural damage to the bridge.
Exit 20 is now open for traffic flow.
KSP says the Bosnian driver, who has been identified as Valdimir Radanov, 41, of Lake Mary, FL, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Warren County Coroner.
The tractor trailer was affiliated with Inter-Frate Inc. of Gary, IN.
