UPDATE: Two Dead After Kentucky Welcome Center Shooting

SIMPSON COUNTY, Ky. (WBKO) -- Two people are dead after a shooting at the Kentucky Welcome Center.

Kentucky State Police say about 9:30 Tuesday night 39 year old James M. Roames, of Hendersonville, TN, walked up to a car parked at the rest area, pulled out a gun and shot the driver.

Then witnesses said the Roames turned the gun on himself.

The driver, 40-year-old Jamie Plymel of Spring Hill, Tennessee, died at the Medical Center in Franklin.

Roames died at the Skyline Medical Center in Nashville.

"We're still going to be going through the car. This investigation will continue going on. So it'll be a while before we actually know a motive of the reasoning why this happened," said Tpr. Jonathan Biven, with Kentucky State Police Post 3.

Kentucky State Police say, at this time, it appears to be a random act.
