Bowling Green Police have released new information about a body being found in a car over the weekend.
The man who was found in the car had been missing for several days.
Police say the body of Joey Smith, 31, was found in the trunk of his own car on Saturday.
"Mr. Smith had been reported missing on Thursday and the person who reported him missing says he had been missing since Monday," says Public Information Officer Ronnie Ward.
Smith's friend told police that Smith's car was at an apartment complex in Bowling Green.
Residents at Greenwood Villa Apartments say the car was moved while Joey Smith was missing.
"The car wasn't there. The car was there when we came back, obvious because the police was here, but that morning, the car wasn't there," says Ron Daniel, maintenance technician for Greenwood Villa Apartments.
Daniel says he was at the Veteran's Day parade early Saturday morning.
"I came back and there was a lot of law enforcement around here and found out that a white car was sitting over there by "J" Building and it got towed to the police precinct, I assume, and they found a body in the trunk," Daniel says.
"Right now, all of our investigators are working on this case. We have a lot of leads that we're following up on right now," Officer Ward says.
Police say it's too early to determine if someone killed Joey Smith.
