A train derailment shut down a federal highway in western Kentucky for much of the weekend.
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet said U.S. 41 was reopened to traffic late Sunday night in Hopkins County.
Late Saturday afternoon, about 15 train cars derailed at a crossing, blocking the highway between U.S. 62 in Nortonville and Ky. 813 in Morton's Gap. Traffic was rerouted onto the Pennyrile Parkway.
Keith Todd of the transportation cabinet said the road will have to be closed again later in the week to allow removal of the remaining rail cars.
