The U.S. Postal Service reports it had quarterly losses of 5.2 billion dollars from April to June.
The agency says it's hurt by increasing costs for future retiree health benefits.
Those expenses made up 3. billion dollars of the quarterly loss.
From April to June losses were 2.1 billion dollars more than the same period in 2011.
The post office defaulted on a five-billion dollar payment last week and says it will miss a second 5.6 billion dollar payment next month.
