PADUCAH, KY. (AP) -- The uranium enrichment plant in Paducah and the Tennessee Valley Authority have reached an agreement to keep power flowing to the facility through September.

Both sides, however, continue to negotiate a pending price agreement that would allow USEC to keep operating the Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant at full capacity beyond May 31.

USEC spokesman Paul Jacobson told The Paducah Sun the agreement gives the plant enough power to begin a shutdown if necessary, but negotiations are ongoing on a deal for enough power to keep the plant operating.

TVA spokesman Scott Brooks in Knoxville, Tenn., didn't confirm Thursday when the two sides agreed to an extension.

USEC spokeswoman Georgann Lookofsky, who works at the site, said the company expects to continue production through the end of May.
