Village Manor Helps Veterans Make the Most of Benefits

BOWLING GREEN, Ky (WBKO) -- There are a number of benefits available to veterans, but many vets do not know how to access the aid they are entitled to.

Village Manor hosted a seminar today, focusing on Aid and Attendance, a specific type of veteran benefit.

The facility hopes its programs will act as a guiding light to adults in the community.

"We like to have education events that are a resource to seniors and adults in general in our community. So, they can think of Village Manor as a resource, and sometimes it's veteran's benefits, sometimes it's downsizing. It really varies," said Heather Banion, Executive Director.

The tax free benefit is available to wartime veterans and their spouses, provided they are over sixty five years old.

Congress created the benefit to help offset the cost of long-term care.

This includes memory and personal care, as well as community, in-home and assisted living.
