BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) -- It's the 10th year for the Saint Jude Dream Home Giveaway and the first year that volunteers have helped frame the house.
This morning volunteers from St. Jude patient families, the Hot Rods, the Christian Motorcycle Association and more were hammering to ultimately help out the children at the hospital.
Volunteers saved St. Jude almost $12,000, and they took about a week off the time it would usually take to get the job done.
"So we had volunteers out early this morning, starting at 7:00 and we'll go all day long. I have pictures from beginning and we've done a lot of work in the last few hours. We're so excited the community has really stepped up to the challenge," said Hollie Hayden, the regional marketing manager for St. Jude.
"My family believes we should help out in case we ever need -- help out before your needed. That's it -- just trying to take care of our community," said Benny Tichenor, who was on the site volunteering.
Tickets for the giveaway are $100 and go on sale June 6th.
Hayden said the goal this year is to raise $600,000 for the kids at Saint Jude.
