There was plenty of wrapping paper, tape and volunteers full of Christmas spirit.

A "wrapping" party was held at Home Instead Senior Care as part of this years Be a Santa to a Senior. 851 seniors will be receiving gifts.

More than 50 volunteers wrapped more than one thousand of those gifts Wednesday.

It's a number that has exceeded expectations.

"This is our 8th year doing it. This is the most seniors we have ever been able to serve. This is the most volunteers we have ever had on a wrapping party day. This is always organized chaos but today it is going really well," says Brad Cannon from Home Instead Senior Care.

The gifts piled up fast with plenty of helping hands. What lies beneath the wrapping paper are items many seniors need the most.

"We are wrapping gifts in there that range from canned goods, to blankets, personal hygiene items. There are not extravagant gifts but they are very needed and very appreciated," says Cannon.

Volunteers, like Doris Barnes, return every year knowing that a few hours of wrapping is a big help this holiday season.

"I think it's the sense of doing something for someone else. It's the inner joy that I get from it," says Barnes.

While most of us may struggle with cutting, taping, and wrapping Doris and others didn't seem to mind.

"Well you know, you've been wrapping for years. When you are an adult or senior," says one volunteer.

"I don't think I am that good at it but I do enjoy it," says Barnes.

After all the gifts were sealed, they were shipped off to some very deserving seniors.
