BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) -- WKU's campus is no stranger to construction, but now campus officials are tearing down a structure they don't intend to rebuild.
The Topper Cafe was built two years ago on the south lawn serving as a temporary home to some of WKU's favorite dining locations during the renovation of Downing Student Union. With DSU almost complete, students and community members are regaining access to a prime tailgating and recreational spot on campus.
"Well, South Lawn is very important to all of our students this is where we all come to relax and recreation. We're going to take this down in the next couple of weeks and we'll have it back and ready for fall semester," WKU Director of Planning, Design, and Construction.
The building has housed five different campus restaurants which will now be back in DSU. Officials said once the building is down they will begin to put down sod and South Lawn will look just like it did before.
