This weekend WKU hosted the first U.S. meeting of U.S. Confucius Institutes.
The Confucius Institute at WKU opened in April 2010.
The purpose of it is to inform people of the Chinese culture and language throughout Kentucky.
Since the program started, the number of teachers increased from 10 to 36.
Now, 9,888 students are registered in the program as well.
"So it gave me very deep impression that American people want to know Chinese culture, Chinese language, really from heart," said the Chief Executive of Confucius Headquarters, Madame Xu Lin.
Lin said she appreciates the culture of Bowling Green -- how friendly everyone has been -- and hopes to return again soon.
