BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) -- Classes at WKU are just one week away and students are already filing onto campus.
Increased construction on campus is causing some transportation changes this year. For the first time ever, the university is limiting commuter parking passes. More buses will be in use from south campus on Campbell Lane, all the way up the hill on Normal Drive. That means the area between the two will see a lot more bus traffic than in years past.
"If we did not limit commuter passes this Fall, we would literally have 200 students driving around looking for parking spots that don't exist," said WKU Director of Parking & Transportation Jenny Tougas.
Transportation officials expect many more people to park their cars at the Campbell Lane parking lot and ride the buses to main campus. That's expected to cause a lot more traffic to flow in and out of Campbell Lane near the intramural fields. Nine buses in all will start running every five minutes when classes start Monday.
