"I think it's going to be a win win for everybody. I would hope our participation would go from 110 up to about 300 in the next 12 months," says Kummer.

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) - After months of delays and waiting it appears that the Warren County Aquatic Center may be saved. A sub-lease agreement with Commonwealth Health Corporation was approved Friday morning at Warren County Fiscal Court.

"The pool is saved. The contract that we have with CHC is to extend the operation of the pool for 12 months and then if the operation goes well there is a clause in there that could allow for a 36 month renewal," says Warren County Parks & Recreation Director Chris Kummer.

In the lease agreement Commonwealth Health Corporation has agreed to pay Warren County $14,700 a month. In return, the organization can use the pool for the rehabilitation of patients. Officials with Commonwealth Health says it's a win for everyone.

"It will benefit not only the entire community by allowing them to continue to have access to the pool but will also benefit those patients who are recuperating from arthritis or injuries," says Executive Vice President Sarah Moore.

Commonwealth Health isn't the only organization hoping to have more swimmers hit the water. Community Education is also on board as a partner. They say they will offer zumba, scuba and diving classes this summer.

In the past, the pool has been plagued with low attendance numbers which forced the county to cut it from its budget. Now, Parks & Recreation Director Chris Kummer is confident with help the pool will now survive.

"I think it's going to be a win win for everybody. I would hope our participation would go from 110 up to about 300 in the next 12 months," says Kummer.

New hours at the pool will begin Monday. In the coming weeks the pool is expected to change rates and offer more membership opportunities for swimmers and families.
