BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) - For those who want to celebrate Independence Day with fireworks of their own, the weather is making a major impact.

Local fireworks stands, like the Thunderdome in Bowling Green, say Thursday's washout cut their business in half. They say it's not all bad news, the days leading up to the 4th of July were extra busy. The Thunderdome say an increase in business Wednesday, which may have also been due to the weather.

"I think a lot of people maybe anticipated the rain. So they came out early maybe. I think a lot of people shot their fireworks last night. We will have people buy them today, planning to shoot them tomorrow, Saturday or Sunday. We hope," says Jeff Christian from the Thunderdome.

The Thunderdome says they will stay open until Sunday. The plan to bring more fireworks in from Tennessee, where selling stops on July 5th.
