Whitfield Wants to Restore Jobs in Lake Cumberland Area

RUSSELL COUNTY, Ky. (WBKO) -- Congressman Ed Whitfield R-1st District was all over the WBKO area today including a stop at the Wolf Creek Cam in Russell County.

Whitfield spoke to a group of people there about getting President Obama's administration to raise the water levels.

They were previously lowered to repair the dam and haven't been raised back yet.

Whitfield said the area has suffered because of this.

"This area has been hard hit with the repairing of the dam and the lowering of the lake levels, it has had a detrimental economic impact in this whole area. We've had many marinas go bankrupt," said Whitfield.

Whitfield says President Obama is slowing this down and he wants him to speed up the process to help create more jobs in tourism in the Lake Cumberland area.
