UPDATE: 10/8/13 6:45 PM CDT
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) -- Customers started noticing their service was restored around 6:45 Tuesday evening.
AT&T issued the following statement: "Wireless service has been restored in Western Kentucky after a cable cut earlier today impacted service for some AT&T customers. Technicians rerouted wireless traffic and service is currently running normally. We know customers count on their wireless services, and we apologize for this inconvenience."
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) -- It was a very busy afternoon for the AT&T store in Bowling Green on Tuesday. It wasn't a new phone that was drawing a crowd, it was a widespread outage.
Starting at 2:00 PM, AT&T wireless customers were unable to make phone calls or use data.
On the WBKO Facebook page, viewers from Bowling Green to Evansville, even as far as Paducah, said they were unable to make calls.
One lady at the AT&T store said the outage could take a toll on her business.
"Well, I just found out that I can't use my phone. I've got clients that are supposed to be calling me because I have to meet them at a certain place, so it's affecting my business. Now my husband doesn't know where we're supposed to be going for supper tonight. We're not for sure how that's going to happen. It affects my whole life unfortunately," said Sharon Coomer.
WBKO reached out to AT&T for a comment on the situation, and we also asked when the problem might be fixed.
We were told, "We are working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible. We apologize for this inconvenience."
