Wife of Senate President Williams Weighing AG Bid

Updated: Fri 4:27 PM, Jun 15, 2012

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) -- The wife of Kentucky state Senate President David Williams is weighing a bid for state attorney general in 2015.

Former district court judge Robyn Williams told the Lexington Herald-Leader (http://bit.ly/M3Vvhc) she's "gotten a lot of encouragement" but hasn't made a decision about whether to run.

The Republican from Russell Springs said the next attorney general shouldn't see the job as "a consolation prize."

The current attorney general, Democrat Jack Conway, cannot seek re-election in 2015 because of term limits. He was an unsuccessful candidate for the U.S. Senate in 2010 and has been mentioned as a possible candidate for governor in 2015.

Williams is a graduate of Chase Law School at Northern Kentucky University and served as a judge in Russell, Wayne and Clinton counties from 2004 through 2010.
