SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — A Sevier County jury took only 40 minutes to convict a woman of attempted aggravated child abuse for trying to set her infant son's car seat on fire.

Becky Eury has been in jail since the May 2010 incident. Her five-week-old son was not injured, nor was her 3-year-old son, who was also in the car.

Prosecutors said Eury used a lighter to try to ignite the car seat, but could not explain why. The defense said Eury has a history of mental illness and postpartum depression.

The Mountain Press reported that Eury did not respond when the judge asked her Thursday if she wanted to testify.

Sentencing was set for Sept. 5.
