A Hardin County woman who admitted to beating a toddler she was baby-sitting has been sentenced to 35 years in prison and ordered to complete a substance abuse program.
28-year-old Ashley Chapman was sentenced in Hardin Circuit Court Thursday.
Last month she pleaded guilty to murder charges.
She said she had taken drugs while the girl was in her care on January 25.
Chapman said she doesn't remember everything, but said the girl fell and landed on her head on a hardwood floor.
Layla Johnson was found unresponsive and had bruises all over her body.
She died a few days later.
The 35-year sentence was recommended by prosecutors.
