A woman in Logan County has been charged with one count of theft by deception after receiving money and other donations from members of the Russellville community.
Kim Black, apparently told residents of Logan County that she was pregnant with twins and had no money and no place to live.
Detective Charles Dauley, with the Logan County Sheriff's department, says Black was not pregnant and she told lies to get money.
After leaving a local homeless shelter, Black allegedly received several cash donations and was put up in a hotel by Logan County residents for several days while they tried to find her a shelter or home to live in.
Former Russellville Mayor, Shirlee Yassney, collected contributions from the community and says she had Black over several times for meals.
Yassney says she posted messages on her Facebook, asking for help, and received an overwhelming response from people ready to give what they could to help the alleged pregnant woman.
"I have almost 900 friends, and they responded, they donated over one hundred dollars, food, clothes, I still have merchandise, I still have food in my freezer, people responded," says Yassney of her Facebook friends.
Food, clothing, gift cards and gas money were only a few donations Yassney mentioned.
Young children at the local churches in Russellville were giving their allowances to help this woman and many welcomed Black into their home.
"She sat right here and ate a sandwich with us," says Logan County resident, Barbara Williams, "I gave her dishes, glasses, utensils out of the drawers, anything I could think of."
Detective Dauley says the community collectively donated over 500 dollars to Black, although most of the money collected by check was given back she still got away with some cash.
Yassney said she was most upset she asked her friends with help and she said she will be more cautious in the future.
Detective Dauley says if you are ever asked to help someone in need it's okay to ask them for a drivers license and it is better to fill up someones gas tank or offer them food before you offer cash.
Black is to be in court again on July 27Th in Logan County for her arraignment.
