SOMERSET, Ky. (AP) — A young Somerset man has been struck and killed by a train.
According to the Commonwealth Journal (http://bit.ly/18ckPMR ), a Norfolk Southern dispatcher called emergency responders Tuesday night and said a train crew reported striking a person walking on the tracks.
Police did not immediately release the victim's name, but identified him as a Somerset resident in his 20s.
Lt. Shannon Smith of the Somerset Police Department said the victim was walking northbound on the tracks and was struck by the southbound train. Smith said it wasn't clear why the man didn't see the oncoming train.
