LAGRANGE, Ky. (AP) -- A central Kentucky judge has sent a murder charge to a grand jury in the case of a woman accused of suffocating her newborn in a prison restroom.

Oldham District Judge Jerry Crosby bound over the case after a hearing Wednesday in LaGrange.

The Courier-Journal of Louisville reported a Kentucky State Police detective testified 20-year-old Ashley Nicole Cox of Corbin was visiting an inmate at the Roederer Correctional Complex near LaGrange on March 7 when she excused herself, saying she wasn't feeling well. A nurse later found the infant in a bag that had been sent to the medical wing after the restroom was cleaned up.

KSP Detective Todd Harwood testified the infant's mouth was stuffed full of toilet paper and a medical examiner ruled the child suffocated after being born healthy at 6 pounds, 9 ounces.
