"I've owned a Corvette since I was first driving. I've never been without one in my life. I've always had at least two or three and it has caught up with me. I have more than I need now," says Phillip Ferrell.

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) - Those looking for a new set of wheels had quite a selection to choose from at the National Corvette Museum. From modern, to classic and even just plain old there was a car for anyone.

The owners of the cars up for auction spend hundreds of hours working on them, only to watch them go to the highest bidder.

"That's what I do in my spare time is fool with them, put them together and drive some of them to make a little extra money," says Buddy Jordan.

Gabe Perry was hopeful just the name on the side of his classic car would bring him thousands. He has been restoring cars for years and was finally looking to get some cash back.

"It gets to be an expensive hobby. A lot of people don't realize how expensive it is. Actually, I got $72,000 in this car and I was only trying to sell it for $59,000 and that didn't even work so I will just keep it awhile," says Perry.

Close to 300 cars made up this weekend's auction. Many of them, the classic corvette.

"I've owned a Corvette since I was first driving. I've never been without one in my life. I've always had at least two or three and it has caught up with me. I have more than I need now," says Phillip Ferrell.

Ferrell was looking to sell some of his 15 cars to make room for the new C7 Stingray, but he only sold one. Another sold sticker did sit on his 100 MPH speedboat, which brought some mixed feelings.

"I sell a boat as cheap as I did this one, it's bittersweet yeah."

The boat sold for a little more than $8,000. Ferrell says the money he earned today will go towards his new C7 Stingray.
