"They've taken knowledge and everywhere where they have made mistakes at, at other places, they corrected them here," says ASA Kentucky Commissioner Bill Bollinger.

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) - Teams from as far away as California have traveled to Buchanon Park in hopes of going home a champion. So far thousands of fans say our area has been an all-star host.

"Bowling Green has been awesome. We are overwhelmed with the beauty of the grass because of course you have greener grass than we do down south," says Tim Krepps of Georgia.

"This is one of the nicest facilities we have played at this year. Lot of parking. The fields are nice," says Jody Belarde of California.

"They've taken knowledge and everywhere where they have made mistakes at, at other places, they corrected them here," says ASA Kentucky Commissioner Bill Bollinger.

The USA/ASA 10 and under National Championships are one of the nations largest youth softball tournaments. Modern features such as wifi, concession stands and state of the art playing fields keep the games coming back.

Although cuts have been made to fund Warren County Parks & Rec, Director Chris Kummer says it's still a team effort to please the crowds.

"Everything is a challenge. So to do a tournament like this, I'm not going to lie to you it takes a lot of our resources. We also have another major event going on this week, so we are very very stretched," says Kummer.

Organizers say a park is only as good as the city within. Area hotels and restaurants are packed this week. The Bowling Green Area Convention & Visitors Bureau says more athletic events are putting South Central Kentucky on their map.

"Our ease of access from most of the country. We are within half a days drive from 3/4 of the country," says Sports Sales Director, Amy Cardwell.

Fans and players alike say they are happy to call our area home for this week.

The championship games will continue through August 4th.
