The Medical Center and WKU Prepare For Big Day

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) - An 18 month construction project in Bowling Green was completed in only 14 months. Now, it is ready to officially open.

Just in time for the new school year, The Medical Center - WKU Health Sciences Complex will open Thursday. The state of the art facility will be used by students and current nurses at The Medical Center.

The partnership between the university and hospital will bring a boost to healthcare in our area.

"It's really a symbolic relationship because Western of course has the clinical programs to produce the skilled care givers that we need and there is a huge demand. Nationally the health care industry is facing a nursing shortage," says Jean Cherry of Commonwealth Health Corporation.

One of the newest pieces of technology will be in the clinical skills lab. Training will take place with life-like patients called meti-man and iStan.
