Volunteers Paint At Lost River Elementary Ahead Of Day Of Caring

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) - The United Way Day of Caring may be 12 days away but some local volunteers got a head start on the action.

Employees of LORD Corporation painted classrooms at Lost River Elementary ahead of the first day of school in August. Volunteer say they work closely with the United Way and frequently use their time to help those who may be in need.

"We just feel like this is really important. There are cut backs and stuff like that and a lot of times some of that money comes out of the teachers own pockets so this is our way helping them out and helping the school as well as the kids," says Terry Hudson.

LORD Corporation says the true heroes were the teachers who purchased the paint and offered the volunteers a free lunch.
