The title of Miss America 2012 went to Miss Wisconsin.
Bowling Green was represented by Kentucky's Ann Blair Thornton in the Miss America beauty pageant.
Friends and fans are gathered this evening in hopes of catching a glimpse of Thornton winning the national title.
We caught up with a special party where every girl got a tiara and made a sash.
Local high schooler Caroline Ford helped pull the event together.
Ford says she wanted the viewing party to be more than just fun.
"What I thought I'd do was incorporate Ann Blair's platform, Alzheimer's Awareness, which actually won her the quality of life award at Miss America, and incorporate that with the girls coming and paying an entry fee. It all goes to Alzeihmers Awareness. I've talked to them a lot about what quality of life is, what Alzheimers is, and what Miss America is about, its not just about having a pretty face," says Caroline Ford.
Even though Thornton did not take home the Miss America title, she didn't walk away empty handed.
She was awarded the Quality of Life Award and $6,000 scholarship.
