The winter weather advisory has been canceled and we've had reports of light dustings across the area.

The weak winter weather is affecting some local businesses.

"We were hoping for more snow," says Jackie Kitchens.

It's what you'd expect to hear from a man who owns a snow plow, salting and landscaping business.

"Its been a really slow winter, we've only had two events..," says Kitchens.

Jackie Kitchens has been clearing roads for the last 4 years.

In that time, he says this is the weakest winter he's ever seen so far.

It's been so slow that the snow plow hasn't even left the warehouse.

Kitchens says that he runs the snow plow business in the winter when most people aren't thinking about getting their yard landscaped.

But the fluctuating weather isn't helping business.

Vickie Fishburn runs Clark Landing Nursery and says that because of the almost springlike weather we've seen recently, some flowers and trees were tricked in blooming too early.

Those plants that are budding too soon run the risk of freezing, once temperatures drop again.

Fishburn says strong winter weather is important to her plants.

"I'm sorry for those flowers that bloomed too early but the trees and bigger plants really need the cold weather."

If you have flowers that are blooming too early, Clark Landing Nursery says covering them is a good way to protect them from the changing weather.
