The Green River Regional Educational Cooperative (GRREC) today announced the appointment of Donna Link as Special Education Division Director. Mrs. Link, a resident of Scottsville, KY, joined GRREC in 2005 as a special education Literacy Consultant and has since served as a leader of professional learning for teachers throughout the region and state.
Mrs. Link holds a Master of Arts and Rank I certificate in Educational Leadership from Western Kentucky University as well as a Rank II in Special Education and a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education (1-8), also from WKU. She also holds a Director of Special Education certificate from Morehead State University. Before joining GRREC, Mrs. Link worked within the Allen County, Barren County, and Bowling Green Independent school systems.
In making the announcement, GRREC Executive Director George Wilson noted the excellent skills and abilities Mrs. Link brings to the position as well as her experience in collaborating with existing staff, district personnel, and, most importantly, classroom teachers throughout the region. “Donna Link not only has the expertise for the position as Special Education Division Director; her focus has been and continues to be clearly on the needs of children – all children. First and foremost, regardless of the situation, her concern lies in doing what’s best for each and every child in GRREC. She will provide an excellent model of purpose and single-mindedness for all of us,” Wilson said.
In her new role, Mrs. Link will coordinate and supervise special education consultative services provided through GRREC and ensure compliance with state funding requirements for the division, which includes more than a dozen special education consultants and staff members.
GRREC, one of eight educational cooperatives in the Commonwealth, serves 36 districts in south central Kentucky and their 140,000 students, teachers and administrators.
For more than 40 years, GRREC has provided professional development to teachers and school leaders in the region. From its Training and Office Facilities in the Kentucky Transpark, GRREC’s 50+ educators and support personnel administer educational initiatives and collaborative partnerships year-round. Mrs. Link will begin her new role July 1.
