FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) -- Kentucky is being recognized for its job creation and investment projects with an award from a magazine that covers corporate site selection and relocation.
Area Development magazine gave Kentucky one of this year's Silver Shovel Awards based on the state's top 10 projects that began to materialize in the previous year. Gov. Steve Beshear's office says those deals include a $600 million expansion at Ford Motor Co. in Louisville as well as other projects around the state and resulted in a total of more than 3,000 jobs and $1.3 billion in investments.
Area Development editor Geraldine Gambale says in a statement from Beshear's office that it's the third Silver Shovel for Kentucky in seven years, apparently supported by large investments in Kentucky by the auto industry.
