Children Participate in Fishing with Kids Event

Hundreds turned out today for the Fishing with Kids event at Lake Malone State Park in Muhlenberg County.

Kids from ages 4-15 came to fish anywhere they'd like on the lake, and spend time with family and friends

The event featured several sponsors and several prizes for kids including a grand prize of a John boat.

Organizers say today is all about getting the kids outdoors.

"There's so much other stuff going on in the world, the computers, the cell phones, and people don't know about the outdoors out here. Everybody needs to come together and get their kids involved in the outdoors in something besides drugs and alcohol and other things in the world. I think it's just good to get them out here," said organizer Mike Kirby.

This is the fourth year for the event and Kirby says it keeps getting bigger every year.
