W. Ky. Man Pleads Guilty In Fatal Police Chase

Posted: 12:15 PM Aug 9, 2012

MADISONVILLE, Ky. (AP) -- A western Kentucky man has pleaded guilty in a fatal police chase crash that killed his passenger.

The Messenger reported on Wednesday the plea of 21-year-old Christopher Adams to charges of manslaughter, assault and burglary.

Adams was initially charged with murder in the February 2010 crash that killed 17-year-old Joseph Aniz of Madisonville.

The newspaper reports Kentucky State Police were chasing a car that matched the description of a vehicle used in three home invasions when the crash occurred.

A second defendant in the case, 22-year-old Phillip Windham, pleaded guilty to robbery, burglary and assault.

The prosecutor recommended a 17-year sentence for Adams and a 15-year sentence for Windham.

Sentencing for both men was set for Sept. 5.
