... if that's the only way you can view the issue, let's put it in a little better perspective. "Taking our (SMOKERS)rights away one by one everyday." is the same as saying "Adding to our (NON SMOKERS) rights one by one everyday." So, elected officials are put in place by the majority of voters creating a democracy, the majority of voters are non smokers. Majority always wins in a democracy! Looks like smokers might want to try and "get on the wagon".

I'm not sure "looking cool" is the entire reason they smoke. Smokers are just drug addicts, who are, and have been for so long, addicted to nicotine that their entire lives circle around finding and dosing themselves with their drug of choice. They are no different that meth users and are just as addicted and dangerous. Their children and houses are exposed to their chemical addiction, doing the same amount of damage. Addicts ALL get really fidgety when they feel threatened of loosing their fix. Business owners already have the right to ban smoking but they seem scared of loosing money. So the government is pushed to ban things due to a few humans not being able to manage.

Whoa, I bet that many business dollars will be sadly missed. Not only should Hoptown ban smoking, the entire state should be smoke free.

Go Mayor Kemp! We need clean air in restaurants, bars and all public places. It's an important health issue. Make the smokers smoke at home!

Yeah Terri...I shouldn't have the right to go somewhere in public and not breathe a bunch of toxic stuff because some idiot is trying to kill themselves to look cool. And the bigger issue here, is your shot at "communists", i.e. liberals to all the conservative sheep. Yeah, when liberals try to make laws, they are communist. What about the conservatives? They want to control women's bodies and what happens in people's bedrooms, because that is THEIR OWN VIEWS. It is no different, except that most liberal laws protect the general community, the conservative ones want to control each individual.

You got that right Terri!!!! Taking our rights away one by one everyday.

If passed, I will ban all public bars that honor the ban. If the business owner wants to ban smoking, more power to him. Just another area where the government is chiselling away at our personal rights just a little at a time. He claims there are businesses supporting it, if they support it so much, why don't they already ban smoking. That is their right as business owners. This is just another area where the corrupt local government is catering to the few rather than the many.

Here is another person that uses his so called clout and is pushing his personal views on others. WHY?!? I think it should still be a businesses own choice. Not someone in office that thinks this would be a good idea. I know others don't share my views about this, but this country is becomming more and more no longer a democracy but a Communist state that imposes its own views.
