Train Collides with Truck Killing One

Police say a western Kentucky man has died after his vehicle was hit by a train.

Kentucky State Police say 76-year-old James A. Johnson of Madisonville was driving a pickup truck south on U.S. 41 around 11:30 a.m. CDT Monday.

Police say Johnson turned onto a side street and entered a railroad crossing where his truck was hit on the passenger side by a CSX train.

Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported.

Police say visual and audible warning signals at the railroad crossing were functioning when the crash happened.
