Missing Teen's Family Says they now have Closure
Not many people can imagine what it's like to not know where their son is for a very long time, and today the tough three month journey of not knowing came to an end for the family of Brandon Crain.
"There's not words to express how horrifying, how terrifying it was. So, I can say yes, it's hard, but at least I've got closure and I can go on and heal I think," said Crain's mother, Reba Dile.
It's not going to be easy, but the family of the 19-year-old said today they're doing a little better now, knowing their loved one isn't suffering.
The Hart County teenager went missing at the end of January, and had been missing until a fisherman found his body in the Green River in Butler County.
For officials involved in the death investigation it was difficult.
"There all tough, especially in this case. The community rallied to look for him. The main thing at this point is the family is going to get closure knowing that Mr. Crain's body has been located," said Kentucky State Police Trooper Jonathan Biven.
The search for Crain showed nothing but an outpouring of support from local officials and communities in Hart and Barren County.
For his family, they're forever thankful for the help.
"I couldn't do anything. All I could do was beg, just be a little beggar, begging for help, and they did help. Without that help, I would not have had anybody," said sister, Vanessa Moldon.
It's a tragedy no family wants, but the family says it will bring them closer together.
"This has showed me a lot. It will be a lot closer definitely. Of course, him being gone, he'll never be forgotten, he'll be in my heart," said Dile.
A heart broken by the loss of a son, but made stronger by family and community support.
The family did say Crain had some psychological issues, and was placed on anti-depressant medication shortly before his disappearance.
Kentucky State Police is handling the death investigation, and they do not expect foul play in Crain's death.
