Listen..I am/was Biscuit's owner. Biscuit was not microchipped, as now I so whole heartedly wish he was. BUT, I don't call it irresponsible for me to have allowed Biscuit to walk across the street to the neighbor's yard..as a suburban area, we all have indoor/outdoor cats that we know are pets..they are not nuisances..they are pets. All he did was cross the street..he was neutered so he did not spray anything and used an indoor litter box (believe me). No one is against the Humane Society as a whole after this situation..but there is a question of how humane their policies are. I hoped to find him at the Humane Society..but he had no time to be missing for me to find him. Cat's want to play outside..they don't keep break-away leashes on and tell me who you see walking their cat on a leash..give me a break. I don't want pitty, I want some changes.

How much does it cost to put a cat down? What is the point of catching animals just to put them down if they are not harming anyone? I recently visited Tybee Island, which is the home of feral cats. They do a great job of catching cats, fixing them and letting them roam.

So deeply sorry this happened in your community. MANY cats that take up cage space at shelters are actually LOST cats that their owners did not know how to recover. And not just cats allowed outside, but indoor-only cats that escaped outside. If you know someone who loses a cat and needs advice/assistance, refer them to our web site http://www.missingpetpartnership.org for assistance.

Maybe if the humane society was not so hard to adopt from they would not be overcrowded. They should have laws to protect all animals not just dogs. You can adopt a child easier than going through warren co. no kill shelter. Whoops did I say no kill but is that not how they advertise. Enough said.

Maybe you should read the leash law before commenting on it.

Yea. You or your spouse works for the city. We get it.

Accidents happen to most people. She obviously wishes her cat hadn't left her yard. It must be nice to be perfect Betty.

Animal Control are the ones putting out the traps.

Why didn't post my comment from earlier?

I like dogs and cats. I also respect other people's property to be animal free. If you have a pet, keep it in your house or in your yard. BG and Warren Co. is so much better now since the animal shelter and the people who pick up stray animals have been in operation. All loose pets should be picked up, identified by their microchip and the owners contacted to come pick them up and pay the charge. Some owners turn their pets out at night and they roam the neighborhood and leave their poop which is then stepped in or run over by the lawn mower. Sorry for the woman and her pet cat. The shelter has a few to choose from and that would be a good thing.

Sorry this cat had to die. The owner same as killed their own pet, allowing any pet to roam at-will is neglect and harmful to the animal. Why are the pet owners the first to think their animals have the right to trespass. Cats are not exempt from the leash law and any animal being spayed or neutered doesn't do a thing for the otherwise ignorance of the owner. I commend the officers and workers that have to trap and euthanize stray animals, they are not sadists. I despise animal owners who neglect their pets by allowing them to roam the streets being a nuisance to others.

Dogs and cats allowed to roam the streets are not only a nuisance and dangerous to the public, but are in constant danger from cars, people, and even other animals. For these reasons, ALL DOGS and CATS must be on a leash or confined on the owner's premises at all times. Dogs and cats in violation of the leash law may be detained by Animal Control and impounded at the Bowling Green-Warren County Humane Society. In addition to impoundment fees, owners may be issued a summons for a violation of the City Ordinance.

I would like to ask how many of you loyal animal owners abide by the laws that would prevent these issues. The City of Bowling Green requires annual licensing of all dogs and cats three (3) months of age or older. This license may be purchased at the Bowling Green Warren County Humane Society. The license fee shall be due and payable on the first day of July each year or on the first day of the month following the acquisition of the dog or cat. The license tag must be attached to a suitable collar and kept on the dog or cat at all times.

Sorry for the loss of Biscuit. But, the best fix to a lot of the Humane Society's and BGPD's Animal Control overwhelmness could be eliminated by educating Bowling Green residents that ALL animals are required to be on a leash or confined while outside. A loose animal is a stray animal and gets treated as such. Why do ignorant people think that cats are exempt from the leash laws and having them spayed or neutered gives them rights to trespass and free-roam the neighborhoods! Trapping and euthanizing is very humane, poisoning and shooting is how it used to be handled. Stop blaming everybody else and put the blame on the animal owner. NO ANIMAL WITHIN BOWLING GREEN LIMITS IS ALLOWED TO ROAM FREE OR TRESPASS.

Everyone wants someone to "find out whats going on down there" but no one wants to do it themselves. Newsflash: YOU CAN GO DOWN THERE YOURSELF! Volunteer, meet everyone who works there, and discover for yourself the constant uphill struggle these people face every single day.
