Starsky and Hutch Star Busted For Marijuana In Bowling Green

You may know him as Detective Dave Starsky, fighting crime on the 1970's television show Starsky and Hutch.

Now, he's being charged with possession of marijuana and paraphernalia.

Police say it happened at the Hilton Garden Inn, last week.

Glaser was in town talking to children about his new book, Chrystallia and the Source of Light.

Later that day he was cited by police.

"They actually went to his room and knocked on his door. We came to the door we told him what we were there for and he gave us the marijuana," says Officer Ronnie Ward with the Bowling Green Police Department.

Police say he was very cooperative, and notified them he was prescribed the drug in California, where he resides.

While police didn't confirm his prescription, a doctors consent is not relevant in Kentucky.

Smoking weed is illegal in the Bluegrass, regardless.

"We site someone almost everyday for marijuana," says Ward, "we treated this case the same we would any case."

No arrest was made in this incident.

Ward says they don't usually make arrests for marijuana unless they have a large enough amount or evidence they are selling the drug.

"It depends on what they're doing with the marijuana, if they've got it packaged we would consider it trafficking, so they can be arrested for it. If there are other offensives that would allow them to be arrested, then of course the marijuana would be tacked on but its still not an arrestable offense," he says.

Ward also says this charge comes with an automatic court date.

"A citation for marijuana, you are cited to court, so you will have a court date and at the point in time its up to the court what the penalty will be,"

There is no word on if Glaser will return to Bowling Green to appear in court.
