John Mellencamp Concert
Some John Mellencamp fans were in for a treat Saturday night when Independence Bank held a free concert featuring the rocker and the Court Yard Hounds.
Hours before the show, they were hard at work, setting up for the Sounds of Independence Concert at WKU Houchens Smith Stadium.
Independence Bank not only held the concert to celebrate their new facility along Scottsville Road, but to raise awareness for farming families in need.
They also presented a big check to Farm Aid.
"Independence Bank is considered the largest agricultural lender in the state of Kentucky, because of that, we are recognizing John Mellencamp, bringing in him, and giving 50,000 dollars to Farm Aid," says Brad Howard, the President of Independence Bank.
T-shirts sales made during the concert, which ran from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., are also going toward Farm Aid.
Independence Bank gave out 22,000 concert tickets to their customers and the general public.
