Fruits And Other Crops Ripening Earlier Than Usual At Jackson's Orchard

Fruits and other crops at Jackson's Orchard and Nursery in Bowling Green are popping up earlier than usual this year.

The owner, Bill Jackson, says because of the warmer temperatures during the winter and spring months, crops like peaches and apples are already ripe and ready to be eaten.

He says the crops are getting ripe about three weeks ahead of schedule.

"we started picking peaches on the 31st of May and that's just early. We started strawberries about the 10th of April and we had never picked strawberries before in April so everything is early and we are just out of season," says Bill Jackson of Jackson's Orchard and Nursery.

Jackson also expects fall apples to ripen earlier than usual this year.

He also says because everything is early, the harvest might also end sooner than usual.
