FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) -- Kentucky Agriculture Commissioner James Comer has fired one holdover from his predecessor's tenure, and demoted a second.
The Courier-Journal reports Comer fired Steve Mobley, division director of Agriculture Education. At the same time, Comer demoted John Roberts, who had been a special assistant in the Office of State Veterinarian. Both actions were taken in letters dated Aug. 1.
The Louisville newspaper obtained copies of the letters through an open records request to the Department of Agriculture.
Both men were holdovers from former Agriculture Commissioner Richie Farmer's tenure at the agriculture department.
The firing and demotion are the latest in a series of personnel actions taken by Comer, since he replaced Farmer at the start of the year.
