Paul, Chandler on Roster for Baseball Game

Posted: 6:04 AM Jun 26, 2012

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) -- Two members of Kentucky's federal delegation will face off in Thursday's congressional baseball game, an annual event that pits Republicans against Democrats.

U.S. Sen. Rand Paul will be playing centerfield for the GOP while U.S. Rep. Ben Chandler will be at shortstop for the Democrats.

The game, a longstanding tradition in Washington, has raised millions of dollars for charities.

Chandler has brags to make when it comes to baseball. His grandfather, the late Happy Chandler, served as Major League Baseball commissioner and is a member of the Baseball Hall of Fame. Meanwhile, Paul's father, Texas Congressman Ron Paul, is the only federal lawmaker ever to hit a homer in the congressional game.
