Check national prices. EVERYBODY is paying high gas prices.

You assume collusion. Provide that can stand up in court evidence to back your assertion, not speculation.

Conspiracy theories without evidence to back them up is theory nonetheless, not fact.

All I have to say is I didn't vote for the mayor that got elected...I mean it doesn't surprise me that they allow this to happen when the people of a city bring in one of two people who voted against the smoking ban. People didn't want local government to control where you can and cannot smoke, but now when gas stations are price gouging they want government to intercede....what's the difference?

It hit up here in Edmonson Co. also, but not Leitchfield.

Maybe there's hope--I've never seen so many 'properly negative' comments on ANY of the previous 'stories' on WBKO...and 2ndly, I notice they've stopped interviewing any of the local gas-gougers themselves (Houchens, Fred Higgins) looking for 'answers'. Like I've been saying for years, it's like asking the fox why the hens keep coming up missing.
One more 'interesting' note: for anybody who says this is NOT a local phenomenon, or that we're all getting upset over something that can be explained away by that old 'supply and demand' jargon we've been hearing...look at how many stories on www.wbko.com go to a regional source when you click on 'em, but never these stories...they're ALL local gouging.
I continue to wish for some REAL local INVESTIGATIVE REPORTING to be brought about by all this...if nothing else, this continuing epic saga SHOULD trigger SOMETHING!

I've tried to contact the KY AG and was told to stop reporting. The state can't investigate unless the Governor declares a state of emergency. I suggest to try your best to patronize elsewhere.

I saw posting of this on Facebook about $3.99 gas. i was in FL when I read them. I payed attention to the signs the whole way back. $3.89 was the highest in once place. $3.79 was common and some were $3.65. It gets old. But our great news teams (WBKO, WNKY) and Daily News have yet to do a solid research/report on this.

Maybe if everyone is bent out of shape about this, start voting for your interests and not because foxnews get you all riled up calling everyone that is not an ultra-conservative a liberal or communist. You see, this is capitalism and free market economics. It amazes me how this is such a "red" state, and everyone crows about freedom, until that is, something doesn't go their way. Why did the banks fail a few years back and need a bail out? Deregulation, a conservative agenda. What does everyone say about Obama bailing out the auto industry? It is communism, how horrible. But now, because it affects you, you want government oversight of these businesses because you have to pay more. People, start thinking a little and voting for what is best for the population at large, not who your preacher tells you to vote for.

Rachel - I have an idea that you are correct. On top of that, our elected officials in Washington give the big oil companies billions of dollars in tax breaks. The companies in turn give our officials millions of dollars in campaign donations and perhaps other perks that remain secret. Maybe I am pessimistic. This appears to be the current American way.

Hey Birdman - Where do you think that Houchens Industries gets the money to support and sponsor all those projects and activities at Western University?
