Greek Week at Western Kentucky University is in full swing. For the next two days, you can be a part of the largest American Red Cross blood drive in the Tennessee Valley Region!
The WKU Greek Week blood drive is a friendly competition that encourages sororities and fraternities to recruit chapter members, family members, friends, classmates, teachers, co-workers and everyone they know to save lives by donating blood!
The sorority and fraternity that earn the highest participation points will get a prize and every presenting donor will receive a t-shirt.
Our goal this year is to collect more than 1,500 units of blood at the Greek Week Blood Drive and we believe this community can help us achieve that goal.
You can help by donating blood at Western Kentucky University located at 1906 College Heights Blvd. on one of the following dates:
• Tuesday, April 17 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Preston Health & Activity Center • Wednesday, April 18 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Preston Health & Activity Center
You can sign up online at www.redcrossblood.org and enter sponsor code WKU or search by zip code 42101
The American Red Cross is also partnering with the National Marrow Donor Program to offer all presenting blood donors the opportunity to be added to the National Marrow Registry. Anyone between 18 and 60 is eligible for bone marrow testing. You can be tested even if you recently donated blood.
In addition, The TrewFriends Foundation will be on site during the blood drive.
The American Red Cross wants your donation to be as safe and successful as possible. Drink an extra 16 oz of liquid before and after your donation. Eat foods containing protein or complex carbohydrates during and after donating. Remember to bring positive identification with you to the blood drive.
