17th Convention of Bosniaks in North America Coming to Bowling Green
The 17th Convention of Bosniaks in North America will be held in Bowling Green this year.
Thursday morning, a press conference was held on WKU's campus to discuss the events coming up on May 24th throughout the 27th.
Last year the event was held in Phoenix, AZ.
This year the Sloane Convention Center will host the events.
Working with the Convention and Visitors Bureau, along with WKU, the event is said to draw thousands.
One of the coordinators of the event, Gina Dzelil says, "there's a large Bosnian population in Bowling Green, about 10 percent of the Bowling Green population is Bosnian so, we have done some great work here. We're excited we're part of this community and we're proud this is our home, and we want to share it with everybody else so come out."
Most of the events are free and open to the public.
WKU will host several educational events in conjunction with the convention, Dr. Jerry Daday, Associate Professor at WKU says this will be an opportunity for the faculty, staff and students to learn more about the history of Bosnia.
